No active Listeria cases in New Jersey. Listeria is a bacterium (the singular word for bacteria). Specifically, the germ that makes people sick is called Listeria monocytogenes.

A multistate Listeria outbreak linked to soft cheeses has affected the tri-state area, including New Jersey, New York, and Maryland. Roughly 15 people have been sickened, with nearly all requiring hospitalization

Listeria (Pork Recall): Roughly 1,500 pounds of ready-to-eat pork products from a Hoboken distributor (Ferrarini USA) were recalled due to potential Listeria contamination. Fortunately, no illnesses have been tied to this specific pork recall yet.
