Report Highlights:

• Emergency department visits and hospital admissions increased since last week for COVID-19 and remain low for influenza and RSV.
• Recent COVID-19 and influenza hospitalizations have mostly been reported in persons 65 years and older. Recent RSV hospitalizations have mostly been reported in persons 0-4 years of age. Five fatal influenza-associated pediatric cases have been reported this season.
• Test positivity remains elevated for parainfluenza virus and rhinovirus/enterovirus, with slight increases for adenovirus and human metapneumovirus compared to last week.
• Levels of COVID-19, influenza type A, influenza type B, and RSV in wastewater continue to decrease.
• The predominant COVID-19 variant is LP.8.1, a subvariant of Omicron covered by the 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine. The current predominant influenza virus is type B and is included in the 2024-25 influenza vaccine.
• Respiratory outbreaks reported by K-12 schools have been primarily due to influenza though influenza-associated absenteeism has decreased in recent weeks. Current outbreaks reported in long-term care facilities are primarily due to COVID-19.
